- Focus is on socialization, which is positively introducing your puppy to places, people, animals, sounds, objects and obstacles. These are private lessons for owner education both at your home and away in a SAFE manner before vaccines are complete. Socialization training is like a behavioral vaccination for your dog. This stage in puppyhood is the critical socialization window. By 4 months old Insufficient early socialization causes hard-to-reverse changes in brain function and anatomy, which leads to temperament problems later in life, such as fear and aggression resulting in more dogs in the shelters. Proper socialization training early is much easier to do than to try to fix these behavior problems that crop up later down the road. This is also the window of opportunity for acclimating your puppy to OFF- leash training! Prepare your puppy to be fully confident in all situations and prevent dog bites, fear, leash reactivity, aggression, and resource guarding. Accustom your puppy to necessary handling for vet visits and groomers. We will introduce behaviors included in the Puppy Kindergarten package such as leash walking, sit, down, recall, stay, wait, go to your mat, and boundaries the front door. Package includes customized written homework instructions, as well as phone and email support. - This package is appropriate for 3 months old and up. If your dog has already had some previous training we will pick up where you left off and continue improving and expanding on all obedience behaviors. Is your puppy already a little older? No problem! It’s never too late to start. Private lessons take place at your home and away if desired and as your dog is ready. Examples of things covered include Down, Come, Sit, Stay, loose leash walking, Go to Your Mat, Wait, and boundaries. Lessons are customized to fit your needs. Common behavior problems such as jumping, dog reactivity, counter surfing, door bolting and more may be addressed. Includes customized written homework instructions, phone and email support.
